Congratulations to U3 student Sara Zdanovskis for completing her honors thesis! Thrilled that you’ll be staying in the lab for the summer, and a Master’s degree!!
Lucas presents a poster at Blue Sky Day
Congratulations to PhD candidate Lucas Philipp for presenting the first poster on his thesis project at the Molecular and Cellular Biophysics Center’s Blue Sky Day!
Steph attends a workshop in Telluride (in-person!)
Thanks to Shani and Richard for organizing a stimulating workshop!
We had fascinating discussions on the latest questions and challenges in the field, with perspectives from both academia and industry.
Another important lesson: virtual platforms are better than nothing, but they cannot replace real face-to-face conversations.
WeberLab welcomes Breviolum minutum, our newest "model" organism!
Small algae, with mighty chromosomes!
Weber Lab goes ice skating!
Canadian winters are no match for our fearless team!
Steph named Canada Research Chair!
Thrilled to announce CRC support for our research program on Spatial Organization of Living Systems!
This award will fund ongoing work on the assembly, regulation, and function of membraneless organelles in bacteria, algae, and worms.
Weber Lab visits a Christmas market
And bids farewell to Pinaki. We will miss his theoretical insights. Simulation results coming soon!
Joyeux Noel à tous, et bonne chance, Pinaki!

Weber lab is growing!
Welcome to new lab members Carina, Shadi, Cyril and Laeya! (And Lucas - in 3D! - who will officially join us next year.)
Sara has an interesting phenotype!
Centrosomes detach from the nucleus and nucleolar volume increases dramatically. Stay tuned for her honors thesis…
Goodbye Stefan, Hello Shadi and Carina!
Weber Lab undergoes a bitter-sweet turnover. Sad to see Stefan go, but grateful for his awesome work on RNAP condensates under stress (results coming soon!). Excited to welcome Shadi and Carina as new PhD students!
One last pie for Stefan before he heads back to France…
Congratulations to PhD student Baljyot Parmar!
Baljyot was awarded the Trainee Paper Award from the Biophysical Society of Canada for his single-molecule work characterizing the dynamics of RNA polymerase inside biomolecular condensates in E. coli. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!
Weber lab gets some fresh air and exercise!
Lively soccer match to wrap up this crazy semester (year).
Congratulations to Nathael, who finished his honors project and will pursue an MSc at UofT. And to Natika, who will be moving on to the Fixman lab for her honors project. Thank you both for all of your hard work!
Steph joins The Soft Matter Show podcast!
Check out her wide-ranging conversation with Dr. Amal Narayanan about biomolecular condensates, academic research in Canada, and mental health.
Weber Lab undergrads clean up on awards!
Congratulations to James Wall on earning an Undergraduate Student Research Award from NSERC! And to Sara Zdanovskis (coming soon!) for her Science Undergraduate Research Award from McGill!
Can’t wait for you both to join the lab full-time this summer!
